How to track progress on bigger goals

Mensaje por Lod Wesr »

I usually set yearly goals like learning a skill, saving money, or getting fit. But after a couple of weeks, I forget about them and focus only on short-term tasks. Months later I realize I’ve made no real progress.

I started using CheckList specifically for that, and it turned into the to do list that finally kept me consistent. The trick was breaking down big goals into smaller steps. For example, instead of “learn coding,” I listed “finish online course module 1,” “build one project,” “practice 30 minutes daily.” Each time I checked something off, I could see how far I’d come, and that motivated me to keep going. I did the same with saving money – I added “set aside $50 weekly” and tracked it throughout the year. Seeing the progress visually kept me from giving up. What’s more, it works offline, so I can update my goals anywhere, and it syncs later automatically. Using the to do list like this gave me a clear picture of long-term achievements.

That’s the kind of structure I’ve been missing. If the to do list can show progress step by step, it might finally help me stay consistent with big goals.
